Cobepa acquires 32.7% stake in d&b audiotechnik
On 14 October 2011, Cobepa acquired a 32.7% equity stake in d&b audiotechnik GmbH ("d&b"), a leading sound system provider, from Odewald & Compagnie ("OCIE"). In May 2011, OCIE and management had acquired d&b in a secondary buy-out transaction from Afinum Management GmbH for an undisclosed amount.
d&b is headquartered in Backnang, Germany, and has been developing, manufacturing and distributing loudspeaker systems since 1981. The company operates internationally in the field of electroacoustics to produce high quality products for the reinforcement of speech and music. d&b's loudspeakers are used globally in rental and installation markets for events, multimedia, musicals, concert halls, theatres, opera houses, broadcast and everything from the smallest conference room to the largest stadium.
The company operates under the d&b brand and has sales subsidiaries in the US, UK, Japan, France, Italy and Spain. In 2010, d&b generated sales of approximately EUR 41 million, while employing some 200 people.
Under its new ownership, d&b aims to achieve further strong growth by increasing its market share in existing international markets and expansion into new markets, as well as by enlarging d&b's product portfolio.
